Inventory Categories lets you manage the inventory categories for your organization.

To access Inventory Categories settings:

  1. Click on on the quick links Located at the top right corner of a page, it contains icons that allow you to quickly access important pages. bar from any page.

  2. In the Settings window:

    Settings associated to a page automatically show in the List box. If the setting that you want to access is in the List box, you can skip step a.

    1. Select Inventory from the Filter drop-down list.

    2. Click on Inventory Categories from the List box in the left pane.

The following information is displayed on the settings page:

  • Description: The name of the inventory category.

  • Category Type: The head under which costs for the category is assigned.

  • Status: Active indicates that sub categories can be assigned to the inventory category at present, while Inactive indicates that sub categories cannot be assigned to it at present.

  • Audit: An Audit button in this column indicates that the category was edited.

    Click on the Audit button to see the changes made to the category.

ClosedCreate a New Inventory Category

  1. Go to Inventory Categories settings.

  2. Click on the Create button.

  3. In the Create Inventory Category window:

    1. Enter the name of the category you want to create in Override Description.

    2. Select where the costs for the category will be assigned from the Category Type drop-down list, if applicable.

    3. Click on the Create button.

ClosedEdit an Inventory Category

  1. Go to Inventory Categories settings.

  2. Click on the name of the category that you want to edit.

  3. In the Update Inventory Category window:

    1. Change the name of the category in Override Description if required.

    2. Select where the costs for the category will be assigned from the Category Type drop-down list, if required.

    3. Change the Status to Active or Inactive to activate or deactivate the category, respectively.

    4. Click on the Update button.

You won't be able to change the Category Type and Status of a Category that already has a Category Type assigned to it and has been included in the theoretical costs for a previous day's Food Cost Worksheet.

ClosedDelete an Inventory Category

  1. Go to Inventory Categories settings.

  2. Click on the name of the category that you want to delete.

  3. In the Update Inventory Category window:

    1. Click on the Delete button.

Only categories that haven't been assigned any Inventory Sub-Categories can be deleted.

If you don't want a certain category accessible to users in your organization at present, you can deactivate it by changing the Status to Inactive. You can similarly reactivate it by changing the Status to Active if and when you start using it.

ClosedAudit an Inventory Category

  1. Go to Inventory Categories settings.

  2. Click on the Audit button next to the category that you want to audit View a detailed list of changes made..

Only categories that have had changes made to them will have an Audit button.
