TimeShark - Security Templates controls the templates that can be applied to users to control what type of access they have in TimeShark.

To access TimeShark - Security Templates settings:

  1. Click on on the quick links Located at the top right corner of a page, it contains icons that allow you to quickly access important pages. bar from any page.

  2. In the Settings window:

    Settings associated to a page automatically show in the List box. If the setting that you want to access is in the List box, you can skip step a.

    1. Select Labour from the Filter drop-down list.

    2. Click on TimeShark - Security Templates from the List box in the left pane.

The following information is displayed on the settings page:

  • Name: The name of the TimeShark security template.

  • Description: A brief description of the template.

  • Updateable: Yes indicates that the template is editable, while No indicates that it cannot be edited.

  • Employee Default: Yes indicates that the template is assigned to new employees by default, while No indicates that it is not the default template.

    The template assigned to an employee can be changed in TimeShark - Employee Roster or in the TimeShark tab of the electronic employee file.

  • Status:

    • Active indicates that the template appears in TimeShark - Employee Roster and in the Security Template drop-down list in the TimeShark tab of the electronic employee file, to be assigned to employees.

    • Inactive indicates that the template does not appear in TimeShark - Employee Roster and in the Security Template drop-down list in the TimeShark tab of the electronic employee file, and hence cannot be assigned to employees.

TimeShark security templates can be applied to users through the TimeShark - Employee Roster page and through the TimeShark tab of the electronic employee file.

TimeShark synchronizes with CLEARVIEW every five minutes. It could hence take up to five minutes for TimeShark to reflect the changes made on this page.

ClosedCreate a TimeShark Security Template

  1. Go to TimeShark - Security Templates settings.

  2. Click on the Create button.

  3. In the TimeShark Security Template window:

    1. Enter a name for the template in Template Name.

    2. Enter a brief description for the template in Description.

    3. Place a checkmark next to Employee Default if you want to make the security template the default template applied to new employees on the TimeShark employee roster.

      Only one security template can be assigned as the default. If another template was previously the default security template, checking the box for a new template will make the new template the default and remove the default status from the other template.

    4. Change the status to Inactive if you don't want to make the security template available in TimeShark - Employee Roster (to be assigned to employees) as yet.

    5. Select the store(s) that will have access to the template, from the Select stores this applies to list.

      Press and hold down the Ctrl or ⌘ key on your keyboard to select multiple options from the list box.

    6. Place a checkmark in each of the functions in Time/Attendance that you want users to have access to, or remove the checkmark if you don't want employees, that have been assigned the security template, to have access to the function.

    7. Place a checkmark next to Employee Administration to allow employees, that have been assigned the security template, to:

      • Approve leave requests.

      • Add or remove employees to roster.

      • Update employee PIN.

      • Add or remove employee biometrics (if used by your store).

    8. Place a checkmark next to Time Card Administration to allow employees, that have been assigned the security template, to:

    9. Place a checkmark next to Exit Stand Alone to allow employees, that have been assigned the security template, to exit the TimeShark app on standalone machines (an Exit button will display on the TimeShark login screen once the admin enters their PIN).

    10. Click on the Update button.

ClosedEdit a TimeShark Security Template

The Administrator template is a CLEARVIEW default and is the only template that cannot be edited.

  1. Go to TimeShark - Security Templates settings.

  2. Click on the Name of the security template that you want to edit.

    If the Updateable column displays No for a security template, changes made to that security template cannot be saved.

  3. In the TimeShark Security Template window:

    1. Make changes to the controls as required (see Create a TimeShark Security Template for details on the controls).

    2. Change the Status to Inactive to disable access to the security template.

      Only security templates that aren't assigned to any employees at present, can be deactivated.

    3. Click on the Update button.

ClosedDelete a TimeShark Security Template

Only security templates that aren't assigned to any employees at present, can be deleted.

  1. Go to TimeShark - Security Templates settings.

  2. Click on the Name of the security template that you want to delete.

  3. Click on the Delete button in the TimeShark Security Template window.

  4. Click on the OK button in the confirmation request pop-up box A box with a prompt that opens up when you click certain links or buttons in Clearview..
