Rebate Categories are non-menu items (like gift cards) that are sold to your customers. This page controls the rebate categories that your organization offers.

To access Rebate Categories settings:

  1. Click on on the quick links Located at the top right corner of a page, it contains icons that allow you to quickly access important pages. bar from any page.

  2. In the Settings window:

    Settings associated to a page automatically show in the List box. If the setting that you want to access is in the List box, you can skip step a.

    1. Select Financial from the Filter drop-down list.

    2. Click on Rebate Categories from the List box in the left pane.

The following information is displayed on the settings page:

ClosedCreate a New Rebate Category

  1. Go to Rebate Categories settings.

  2. Click on the Create button.

  3. In the Create Rebate Category window:

    1. Select the Rebate Type from the drop-down list.

    2. Enter the name of the category you want to create in Description.

    3. Enter the serial number of the gift certificate from the POS in Gift Certificate Index*.

      Gift Certificate Index is available only if the Rebate Type was set to Gift Certificate.

    4. Enter a number in Sequence (this number determines the order in which the categories will appear in the drop-down list).

      • It's a good practice to avoid assigning consecutive numbers when creating categories the first time and instead use numbers with large gaps between them (for example, 10, 20, 30 and so on). That way, in the future, new categories can easily be inserted in between as required.

      • If you would like the categories to be displayed in alphabetical order, set the sequence for all categories to the same number.

    5. If the rebate being created is a loyalty card, select the name of the Loyalty Card from the drop-down list.

      1. If the loyalty card does not exist among the options in the drop-down list, click on New Category.

      2. Enter the name of the loyalty card in Description.

      3. Click on the Create button.

    6. Click on the Create button.

A new category will automatically have Allow Pre-Entry set to Yes. This means that rebates with the category can be created for the day even if the previous end of day Completion of end of day tasks on the POS which results in EOD markers sent to Clearview. has not been completed. If you don't want to allow rebates with the new category to be created unless the previous end of day Completion of end of day tasks on the POS which results in EOD markers sent to Clearview. has been completed, edit the category created and change Allow Pre-Entry to No.

ClosedEdit a Rebate Category

  1. Go to Rebate Categories settings.

  2. Click on the name of the category that you want to edit.

  3. In the Update Rebate Category window:

    1. Change the details as required.

    2. Click on the Update button.

If you don't want a certain category accessible to users in your organization at present, you can deactivate it by changing the Status to Inactive. You can similarly reactivate it by changing the Status to Active if and when you start using it.

ClosedDelete a Rebate Category

  1. Go to Rebate Categories settings.

  2. Click on the name of the category that you want to delete.

  3. Click on the Delete button in the Update Rebate Category window.

  4. Click on the OK button in the confirmation request pop-up box A box with a prompt that opens up when you click certain links or buttons in Clearview..

Only categories that haven't been used for a rebate can be deleted.
